Montgomery, AL – An investigation is underway after an explosive device detonated outside the office of the Alabama Attorney General over the weekend, according to a statement released on Monday by Attorney General Steve Marshall.

No Injuries Reported:

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, which occurred early Saturday morning in Montgomery. Marshall stated, “The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) will be leading the investigation, and we are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately.”

Details of the Incident:

On Monday morning, the ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) received a report of a suspicious package near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street in Montgomery. They confirmed the package to be the explosive device detonated earlier that weekend.

Unclear Motive:

While authorities haven’t revealed a motive for the explosion, it comes just one day after Marshall announced he wouldn’t prosecute in vitro fertilization (IVF) providers or families following an Alabama Supreme Court ruling that classified embryos as children.

Investigation Ongoing:

The ALEA is currently leading the investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact them immediately. T
